What Is A Bruised Eye?

Treatment Of A Bruised Eye

  • A black eye usually heals within a couple of days.
  • Consult with a doctor for severe injuries.

Home Remedy For A Bruised Eye(s)

  • Apply ice for about 15 minutes each hour for the first two days.
  • If it doesn’t improve, apply a lukewarm compress once in two hours.
  • Do not directly place ice on the eye(s).
  • Wrap ice in a rag or use a commercial pack.

  • Continue with the cold compress till the swelling eases.
  • Consume some acetaminophen, for pain relief.
  • Don’t take aspirin.

  • For injuries sustained to the nose see an ENT specialist.
  • For injuries sustained to the eye see an Ophthalmologist.
  • For facial injuries or disfigurement see a plastic surgeon.
  • Carry out a follow-up consultation as advised by your doctor.

  • Always guard your eyes.
  • Ensure your well-being at home by removing unnecessary objects.
  • Stay away from fist fights.
